It’s time for our MeinMMO format “MMORPG News in Two Minutes.” We summarize the most important news about the best genre in the world. Look forward to Chronicles of Elyria, OnlyFangs, and countless new content updates for various online worlds.
The highlights of the week:
- World of Warcraft has regularly fallen victim to DDoS attacks since the start of the World-First race of the current season from The War Within. Many players are demanding compensation for their game time. The attacks have repeatedly also affected the hardcore servers of WoW Classic.
- After particularly painful wipes in Blackwing Lair, the streamer guild OnlyFangs announced the end of their hardcore project.
- Blizzard responded and changed its own rules for hardcore to minimize damage from DDoS attacks.
- Nevertheless, there will be the last raid of OnlyFangs in its current form next weekend. Afterwards, Sodappopin and other players will take a break from regular progress. What will happen to OnlyFangs next is currently unclear.
What else has happened? With Patch 7.2, the new content update for Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail has been released. As soon as the new features were live, there were discussions about the adjustments for the Black Mage job. An overview of the fresh endgame content of the MMORPG can be found here: Endgame until Patch 7.2 with new raid and new trial.

This is what happened in the developing MMORPGs:
- Jeromy Walsh, the mastermind behind the crowdfunding MMORPG Chronicles of Elyria, spoke on his Discord about the current status (via mmorpg.com). He is currently working on the project alone and has been doing so for many years without pay. The developer admits that he has made some promises, particularly regarding the modernization of the website, which was supposed to be completed months ago, but also that external pressure and poor media coverage made his work difficult.
