In Apex Legends, the developers made a detail error that the internet noticed, of course. However, the developers’ reaction is a class of its own.
The error in question: The “Grand Soirée Event” is currently running in Apex Legends. Among other things, the event brings new rotating game modes and various skins.
Among them is the new “Clocktane” skin, which is obviously based on clocks. The problem: The large clock in the center of the skin is faulty. Instead of jumping from the Roman 9 (IX) to 10 (X), it goes straight to 11 (XI).
This tiny detail caught the eye of Reddit user “Temphost”, whose post in turn attracted the attention of one of the developers. And he immediately started pointing fingers.
“Yes, he definitely just forgot the 10”
This is how the developers react: On reddit, the user RSPN_Jeremy, part of the Respawn development team, responded directly to the post – coldly presenting the guilty party. It was the “Weapon Artist” Eric Simard, whose website he also linked.
What followed was a winking discussion of the topic. User Drifter_Jace tried to defend the artist: “This is not a mistake. It was 10 o’clock when Octane’s legs got blown off. He said, ‘Never again 10 o’clock.'”
In response, RSPN_Jeremy claimed: “I can’t believe you figured that out so quickly,” only to comment shortly after: “Yes, he definitely just forgot the 10, he’s sitting right next to me.”
Will this be fixed? Jeremy also humorously commented on this – as it is actually not an easy patch. Or rather: It wouldn’t be worth fixing such a small visual bug if there’s a risk that the fix might introduce other problems.
However, it seems that work is already being done on the skin – or not, as the developer in reddit mentioned:
I shouldn’t guarantee it, but since I saw that a few hours were spent on it today: Yes, it will probably* maybe be fixed at a later time** in the future***.
– Translation
*= No guarantee
**= I don’t know if that is true
***= I’m just human, I have no power over when or if it comes
Seems like the bug is not causing the developers too much headache – it’s just a small detail. The reactions on Reddit also show a more favorable attitude – also due to the humorous handling of it.
However, a less pleasant bug was received less cheerfully:
