Destiny 2 deletes all your shaders and warns that you have one week left to profit from it. Read about what Season 14 brings new.
This is the warning: In Destiny 2, all your shaders will disappear on May 11th. Whether you store them in the vault, inventory, or post office, it doesn’t matter. Because on that day, at 7:00 PM, the new Season 14 starts and changes the cosmetic feature “shaders”.
MeinMMO tells you why you should hurry and how to shorten the tedious dismantling process a bit. Learn here what Bungie plans for the shader system in Season 14.
That’s why you should dismantle quickly: Over the years, guardians have accumulated thousands of shaders that can give your gear new colors and patterns. Each of these shaders gives you glimmer and legendary shards when dismantled. These are practically the currency of Destiny 2, and you have a real fortune in shaders.
All those resources will slip through your fingers if you do not dismantle the shaders manually. This can take quite a while, but there is a trick to save some time.
The warning to dismantle the shaders has now been repeatedly issued by Bungie. It appears in the weekly blog post and also in the game itself – so take the advice.
Dismantling shaders in Destiny 2 quickly
This is how you save time: You can dismantle shaders individually in the menu. However, if you visit the cryptarch Master Rahool in the Tower, it goes much faster.
- Click once to the right on Master Rahool’s screen – here you will find the “Shader Recycling” option.
- Now select a stack of shaders and dismantle 5 shaders at once.
- Don’t worry, you will still receive all your resources.
- However, Rahool will only show you the shaders that are in your inventory and have at least a stack of 5.
Such a “please dye everything at once” function has been requested by guardians since the release of Destiny 2. How the new shader system works for weapons is currently unknown.
This is where shaders will become more expensive: You will find new shaders in the same sources as now – by completing activities, in legacy engrams, from triumphs, and the Eververse. However, in the Eververse, the price per shader will go up.
If you previously paid 40 shimmering dust per shader, starting from Season 14, 300 shimmering dust will be due. Bungie announced that starting May 11th, a “Year-1 Eververse Shader Pack” will wait for you at Tess, which can only be purchased with glimmer.
What do you think of the redesign of the shader system? Have you dismantled all the stacks yet, or does it take too long for you, and you forgo all those resources? Let us know in the comments.
The overhaul of shaders goes hand in hand with the new transmog feature, which many guardians have been waiting for since 2014. It is finally coming in Season 14 but causes some controversy: In Destiny 2, everyone is arguing about transmog – is the criticism exaggerated?
So you should plan some time depending on your shader stock. Don’t forget to also dismantle the trailing shaders in the vault or the small individual items in the menu.
A Fashion Season 14 awaits you
Until now, shaders were only usable once to give armor or legendary weapons a new coat of paint. Then the shader had to be either found anew or purchased from the collection. But you will not miss out on dyeing your items even in Season 14.
What changes with shaders? Once you have unlocked a shader once, it will now appear in the new “Appearance Screen” of your guardian for all available armor pieces. You will find the shaders you dismantle there as well.
- You then have the option to dye the item individually (costs 500 glimmer)
- Or to dye all 5 equipped armor pieces at once (costs 2,500 glimmer)
- Legendary shards will no longer be required.
