Call of Duty: Warzone provides its soldiers with 5 different vehicle types, which are also often used as weapons. Learn here how to successfully defend against the biggest calibers in the game.
What does this guide bring me? The vehicles in Call of Duty: Warzone can sometimes be quite annoying. Often, a simple touch from a moving car can knock you out, if not completely take you down.
Here you can learn what effective means there are against vehicles and how to best defend against these moving heavy weapons.
Crushing vehicles made easy – It’s all about the tools
Only one of the 5 vehicles is truly strong when it comes to combat use – the Truck. All others can be disabled with a precise shot and can burst into flames after just one hit. Here are the 5 vehicles in Warzone:
- Truck – Large truck with heavy armor
- SUV – Sturdy station wagon
- Helicopter – Flying SUV
- Rover – Open off-road vehicle
- ATV – Unprotected quad
To avoid stress with the vehicles, you need a few special toys in your loadout. For each vehicle, we list the best countermeasures and at the end, there are tips for general handling of these wheeled transports.
Truck – C4 can help, JOKR can too
What can this vehicle do? The Truck is a large vehicle with a spacious loading area in the back, where multiple players can comfortably fit without falling off. This thing is a nasty killer in Warzone and has decided quite a few matches. Streamer shroud believes that Warzone would be better off without vehicles and this truck is one of the main reasons.
The truck has a gigantic hitbox with which it can hit opponents and has tons of armor. The usual weapons against vehicles, such as the launchers PILA, Strela, and RPG, cannot deal enough damage with a single shot. And nothing can cause significant harm to this large vehicle very quickly.
Best weapons against the truck
- JOKR – 1 missile
- C4 – 2 packages
- Thermite – 2 charges
- Other launchers – 2 missiles
How do I destroy the truck? The most efficient way to destroy a truck is theoretically the JOKR. It is the only weapon in the game that can take out the truck with one shot. “Obligated” has tried almost all explosive projectiles in Warzone and presented his results in an English YouTube video. However, the JOKR only guarantees a vehicle K.O. against stationary vehicles.
That usually doesn’t accomplish much when such a vehicle comes rushing at you at full speed. Here, a mix of launcher and grenade is recommended. Try to attach the thermite to the truck and then quickly take a shot with the seeking PILA or the Strela. If you have a bit more time, 2 thermite charges will also do the job. This will safely take down the truck, but thermite deals damage slowly.
The fastest way to take down a nearby truck is the car bomb – An old Battlefield trick. Attach 2 C4 charges to a vehicle and let it crash into an enemy truck. Get out beforehand and detonate the C4 at the right moment. Even without a car, C4 works really well against trucks, but due to the short range, it’s a dangerous game.
SUV – Well-armored station wagon
What can this vehicle do? The SUV is quicker, more agile, and quite well armored compared to the truck. 4 players can fit in the CoD family wagon that is supposed to transport soldiers safely from point A to B.
If you need a vehicle for a larger group, take the SUV. It cannot be taken out directly by rocket launchers, and its occupants are well protected from fire.
Best weapons against the SUV
- C4 – 1 hit
- PILA – 1 hit (disabled)
How do I destroy the SUV? At close range, C4 yields the best results. With one charge, you can directly annihilate the SUV and add the occupants to your kill count.
Otherwise, the SUV is quite resilient. Although even the station wagon stands no chance against a JOKR shot, the launchers PILA, Strela, and RPG cannot take it out directly with a single shot. After being hit, the SUV is disabled and explodes a few seconds later, but the moving soldiers usually get away with just a scare.
If you see an SUV and it remains in your sight for a while, shoot at it a bit and then fire your launcher. This way you might get the kills directly. The seeking PILA does a great job here. The projectiles have good speed to follow moving targets and are fast enough that you can hardly dodge them.
Helicopter – Bring out the launchers and take it down
What can this vehicle do? The helicopter is the only flying vehicle in Warzone, besides the drop plane, with which you can quickly cover great distances. In a way, it is a flying SUV, as it has similar armor properties to the station wagon.
As a weapon, this flyer is sometimes also useful. Skilled soldiers knock out several enemies with the large rotors into the Gulag right at the start of the match.
But in the helicopter, you live dangerously. In the air, you have no cover and are highly visible to potential attackers. Preferably take the SUV for your tour across the map. With the helicopter, you quickly find yourself in situations where you can only react instead of actively confronting the enemy.

How do I destroy the helicopter? Since the helicopter is usually further away from you, 2 of the CoD rocket launchers work well here. The PILA with its seeking missiles easily takes out helicopters even at long distances. The pilots can rarely dodge, and you force the team to eject from the helicopter, as it becomes disabled with one hit.
With the Strela missiles, you do have to aim yourself, but the projectiles fly so fast and accurately that with a little practice, you should achieve good results here as well.
If you spot an enemy helicopter right at the start of the match and are alone, you have little chance if the pilot knows what he is doing. Take cover or look for the nearest doorway. In a team, it’s a different story. Take the first automatic weapon you find and shoot together at the flying enemy. The helicopter will go down quickly with 3 to 4 players.
ATV & Rover – Free kills
What can these vehicles do? These are two small, fast, and agile vehicles, but they are anything but safe. The ATV can carry 2, and the Rover can carry 4 people. If you plan a longer journey, it’s better to switch to an SUV or the truck.
In our tips for Warzone, we recommend always having a rocket launcher on your team. One of the reasons is precisely these small vehicles here, which you can blow up with a single shot. Almost like free kills.
For every player with a launcher, the vehicle icons pop up on the mini-map like targets, and you become easy prey for kill-hungry opponents. Although you will be notified, for example, when a PILA targets you, you will often lose sight of the vehicle. It’s better to leave these small vehicles alone.

How do I destroy ATV & Rover? The most effective way is with the PILA rocket launcher. The seeking missiles reliably destroy the small quad and the rover and can well follow evasive maneuvers.
The two lightly armored vehicles offer little protection for the occupants. If you get a bit closer, you can also just shoot the enemies out of their seats.
Otherwise, the two vehicles are not particularly durable. With a bit of gunfire and a Semtex, you can also reach your goal quickly. They almost react allergically to any type of explosion. But you must be quick. The vehicles are fast too.
Special tactics against vehicles
In addition to the right weapons, there are also a few smaller tricks that you should keep in mind. These behaviors might make a difference:
- Field upgrade shield – If a vehicle comes towards you and you have nothing suitable at hand, set up a shield. You can briefly block the smaller vehicles with it.
- Use fences or similar objects – Vehicles can hardly get over elevation. Use solid objects on the map to stay safe from road kills. But be careful of the truck. It can sometimes come higher than you think.
- Share rocket launcher ammo – If you just picked up your loadout and have a rocket launcher on your team, give the teammate with the launcher all the rocket ammo of the team.
- Work together against vehicles – You can achieve a lot with team fire. Aggressively confront the vehicles and claim the kills together. However, be cautious around the truck without proper explosives.
Now you are well prepared for encounters of the unpleasant kind with the vehicles in Warzone. Unless, of course, one of the trucks attempts a wrestling move. Then, C4 won’t help anymore.
