Xur is currently doing whatever he wants. In the last two weeks, he didn’t bring any Three of Coins, and Guardians were scratching their heads about what was going on with the tentacle-faced vendor. At the end of 2016, Bungie stated: Xur’s behavior may fluctuate in the near future.
In other words: It is no longer guaranteed that Xur will bring the Three of Coins week after week. If he has them again, it is certainly wise to stock up.
