In Destiny, the exotic engram vendor Xur will only occasionally have exotic engrams available. However, his offering will be more powerful next week than it is this week.
This was a shock for many Guardians today in Destiny. Not only the sight of Xur, who, with all due respect, would not win Mr. Tentacle, but also his offering: there were no exotic engrams left. For the last 15 weeks, Xur had either an exotic helmet, chest, or gauntlet engram and parting with it for 23 Light particles. Not today, instead the exotic shards.
This will happen more frequently in the future, but not always. This has now been confirmed by the community member DeeJ, who is responsible for Destiny, in the English forum reddit:
“I can tell you two things,” it says there. “Exotic engrams will sporadically appear in his offering. And next week his offering will be more powerful than this week.”
It therefore seems to be the case as suspected, that starting next Friday he will sell the new edition of the exotic weapons and armors. This will then have a higher base value than currently fully upgraded items.
However, this sentence might also imply that Xur will start selling the numerous new exotic items that are coming to Destiny with “Darkness Lurks” starting next week.
