During the second week of his offerings, he had the ultra-desirable rocket launcher Gjallarhorn available. But he played to empty seats, as hardly anyone knew about Xur and his offerings: he sells exotic weapons and armor that are prestige items in Destiny. However, he only has a small selection each week, and no one really knew that in the second week after the release.
And so hardly anyone bought the rocket launcher Gjallarhorn back then. And he has never offered it again since. Maybe that will change this week, who knows?
Nowadays, Xur plays in full stadiums. And if he had Gjallarhorn, it would significantly change the balance in the game.
Similarly sought after as Gjallarhorn is the Warlock chest armor Heart of Praxic Fire. This has also never been seen before. He did not sell it in 2014.

The DLC Titan Boots Mk 44 Stand Asides for 13 strange coins with 145/156 strength, looks like a really good roll.
The exotic DLC Warlock chest piece Starfire Protocol for 13 strange coins. This version has 144/155 intellect, likely also good for a 36 light level.
The exotic DLC gloves Don’t Touch Me for Hunters. They cost 13 strange coins and have 91/97 discipline, rather poor.
