Destiny is a franchise between two games. While Destiny 1 is still running, it is in its final stages. No new updates are forthcoming, the glorious Iron Banner will take place for the last time in August 2017, and the days of the Trials of Osiris are numbered. Bungie is no longer handling Destiny 1 with utmost care.
Mein-MMO and Destiny 1: The end of rituals is near
For Bungie, Destiny 1 is officially over, even though some standard mechanisms such as Xur or the Weekly Reset will still continue. It is said that the servers of Destiny 1 will remain “online for the foreseeable future.”
It is clear: Bungie wants to increasingly focus attention on Destiny 2. All signs point to that.
As an MMO site with a strong Destiny readership, we will conform to this trend, but not entirely.
Interest in Destiny and the standard articles (Weekly Reset, Xur, Weapon Day, Videos of the Week, Osiris) has been dwindling for months.
Our plan is still to continue reporting on Destiny 1 – but not with the highest priority as in previous years. It may therefore be the case that some standard articles will be omitted.
With the release of Destiny 2, we will cease reporting on Destiny 1, unless a major event occurs. Instead, we will cover the “weekly rituals” in Destiny 2.
