In Destiny, the promised vault expansion is still pending. However, Bungie wants to relieve the overcrowded storage.
In the summer, we reported on a piece of news that mostly pleased the collectors among you: The executive producer Scott Taylor revealed, that a vault expansion is forthcoming. However, not directly at the launch of “The Rise of Iron”, but at a later date. Bungie is working on a solution.
Now, numerous details about the winter event in Destiny are already known. On December 13th, the “Dawning” will start and bring new exotics, the SRL, and strike scoring – but no expanded vault. So far, the developers have not commented on that. It seems we still have to be patient. However, there was a statement regarding the overcrowded storage.
Are kiosks the future?
The community manager DeeJ recently stated that Bungie is working to relieve the vaults. They know that collecting is an important aspect in Destiny, but the kiosks would do a much better job (than the vaults) at keeping track of all your “treasures” and retrieving them when you need them.
Some guardians see this statement as confirmation that there probably won’t be a vault expansion anytime soon – if at all. Bungie seems to be betting on the kiosk model. That a new kiosk is coming with “The Dawning” has already been confirmed.
However, to clear the packed storage, many more kiosks would be needed, such as for raid items or more items from year 1.
