In Destiny, Xur today, on December 23rd, has no Three of Coins. Is he trying to steal the Guardians’ Christmas?
Update: Bungie has responded. Xur will NOT be selling any Coins this weekend. They are currently looking at how he will behave in the upcoming weekends. Xur is now listed under the “Known Issues” of Destiny.
Xûr will not be selling Three of Coins for the weekend of 12/23 – 12/25. For more information, please see: https://t.co/DSRrMBuE5n

Original report:
Reddit is buzzing. “OMG, Xur has no Three of Coins,” is being read everywhere. Some users are already cursing Bungie, calling Xur a Grinch or a miser and seeing the Christmas holidays as ruined. Today’s Xur visit was the last chance to properly stock up on the “Three of Coins” supply to be prepared for the free days. But Xur disappoints.
An oversight or a deliberate change?
Until now, the Agent of the Nine was always reliable. He appeared punctually every Friday and brought the coveted Coins. Today, that is not the case. And right before Christmas.
The community is speculating about what this could mean. Is this just an oversight? A glitch in the system? Did the reset not work smoothly? Or has Bungie planned this? – for whatever reasons.
Most Guardians are not pleased with the change. They are cursing this mistake. But there are also others who see a plan by Bungie to make exotic items special again, to make Destiny feel more like it did in Year 1, when you had to wait and hope for the golden items.
Three of Coins would be in high demand: With “The Dawning,” SRL returned and strike scoring was introduced. Both are activities in Destiny where many Three of Coins can be used to have a chance at exotic engrams. With exotic engrams, you can get items up to the maximum light level of 400.
Xur doesn’t surprise for the first time
This is not the first time that the Agent of the Nine has surprised with his inventory. A few weeks after the launch of “Rise of Iron,” Xur suddenly brought “normal” engrams – meaning no legacy engrams. However, this was a change that the Guardians welcomed, and they immediately filled their pockets with the tasty engrams.
So far, we have not received a statement from Bungie regarding the “Three of Coins” issue. Most of the developers are currently on vacation – we will see if they will comment on this.
