In the MMO shooter Destiny , the February update has been introduced. It focuses on PvP. Bungie is taking drastic measures against lag.
In Destiny, the players are asking for PvE content, but that will have to wait. Next week, a PvP patch is clearly coming, which brings the Crimson Days, a 2v2 event. We extensively introduced that last week. But there’s more to come.
The update was prepared on 4.2 during the multi-hour maintenance, it will go live next Tuesday – and the February patch brings:
Significant changes to PvP modes
Players will start in the 3v3 modes without special ammo in the Crucible . That can only be picked up later – this applies to Clash, Salvage, Elimination, and also Trials of Osiris – hand cannons are excluded from this change.
Then there will be two new playlists, the “Freelance” playlists. The special thing: Only solo players can participate here, no groups. There will be a “Freelance 6v6” (Clash, Control, Rift) and a “Freelance 3v3” playlist (Elimination, Salvage, Clash) with suitable modes. However, these will not always be active, but will come in a weekly rotation. That starts next week.
The new matchmaking settings, which should bring less lag, will also be applied to Trials of Osiris starting tomorrow. Later, they plan to add Clash and the Crimson Days to this list. And even later, they intend to implement it for all Crucible playlists.

Those with a bad connection will not gain any advantage, only more disadvantages
In a larger action, Destiny – in short – will be redesigned so that lag gives no advantage, but only disadvantages for the one with the poor connection. Anyone with a bad connection should urgently address fixing it. As Bungie says: Those with a poor connection will lose far more games than they do currently. This will also be available next week. For players with a good connection, the fight against such laggers should be less frustrating.
In the raid King’s Fall, a camera issue with the daughters of Oryx will be fixed and they are addressing the teleporting ogres in the King’s Fall raid.
Additionally, the ship “The Last Word” will now appear more frequently when the Black Spindle mission is the daily.

When is all this coming? When is the February patch 2.1.1.?
The February patch 2.1.1. is coming next Tuesday, February 9, at 7:00 PM our time for Destiny.
And just to clarify, so no one confuses the “Weekly Update”, Bungie’s weekly letter to the community, with a “Destiny game update”, they want to find a new name for the community letter. Our earlier favorite: “The Book of Salt.”
Xur will arrive on Friday, February 5, at 10:00 AM in the Tower. We will be there to report on both. Here is the link to Xur on February 5.
