Age of Triumph brings some changes to the PvP of Destiny. The Crucible will be streamlined.
In the livestream for the “Age of Triumph” last Wednesday, the developers visited Lord Shaxx in the Tower and presented his inventory. Starting March 28, the Crucible overseer will offer two weekly bounties that will grant you tasty rewards. In today’s “This Week at Bungie,” there were further details about the PvP area.
According to designer Jeremiah Pieschl, Age of Triumph pursues two goals for the Crucible:
To ensure the quality of matchmaking.
There will be more ways to earn rewards in the Crucible. “Generosity” will be prioritized.
The Crucible will be streamlined
They plan to achieve these goals by reducing the number of Crucible playlists. Each week there will be five core playlists displayed in the middle column of the Crucible navigator. A rotating playlist will be in the upper column, and private matches will be in the lower column. This is what the navigator will look like:
Control, Domination, Elimination/Trials, Salvage, and Rumble are in line here
This means that playlists such as Control or Clash will not be available every week. Different modes will be featured each week, focusing on keeping the matchmaking pools filled and reducing long wait times. There is one exception: Elimination will be available every week, replaced by the Trials of Osiris on weekends.
Players who do not own “Rise of Iron” will find their playlists in the upper column.
Changes to PvP Bounties
In addition to the second bounty from Lord Shaxx, there will also be updates to the daily Crucible bounties: It should no longer matter which mode you play, which subclass you have, or whether you play in a fireteam.
Additionally, the Crucible Quartermaster will offer five new bounties per week, which will grant you different weapon types. This will allow you to acquire “Year 2” and “Year 3” weapons from the Crucible, Iron Banner, and the Trials of Osiris. For example, there will be a Hand Cannon bounty, giving you a chance to obtain an Eyasluna!
The Trials bounties will also be updated. Each of them can be completed daily while the Trials are active. Silver and Gold tier bounties contain gear and weapons from Year 3.
Earth and Moon: Story missions from the release of Destiny
Mars and Venus: Story missions from the release of Destiny
Dark Champions: Story missions from Darkness Awaits and House of Wolves
The Taken War: Story missions from The Taken King
The Iron Lords: Story missions from The Rise of Iron
Additionally, it is reiterated: Yes, the Nightfall buff is coming back.
Next week, the third and final livestream for the Age of Triumph will take place, focusing on weapons and armor pieces. According to DeeJ, it might be that they have saved the best “Destiny 1” armor pieces for last. New ornaments will be showcased. Furthermore, they will need to discuss the primary weapons with elemental damage that will be returning.
