In the MMO shooter Destiny , the servers are down for maintenance today, July 9th, at noon. It is unknown whether an update or a patch is coming.
Perhaps the numerous protests of the past have made a difference. Fans from Europe have long been complaining: “Hey, Bungie, when you patch, why do you always do it during our prime time, exactly when we want to play?” And this time, Bungie is indeed doing it 5 hours earlier.
Instead of starting at 6:00 PM our time (9 AM in Seattle), it begins today at 1:00 PM (4 AM on the Pacific Coast). It is unknown how long the maintenance will last.
No one currently knows exactly what is happening. Bungie only states: Players will be unable to log into Destiny. “Planned maintenance work” is taking place. It is not known at this time whether a new update or patch is coming and what they will do. Many would likely wish for a solution to the lag problem or a change in weapon balance, especially for the Crucible.
Players will be unable to sign into Destiny for planned maintenance at 4am PDT on Thursday, July 9th.

Update 12:55: Wow, bad news. The maintenance is scheduled for EIGHT hours. This means it is expected that the servers will not be back until 9:00 PM our time. In the meantime, players will see the error code Loganberry.
There is still no information on what the patch actually does, if one comes.
Update 20:25: It is now known what the patch currently changes in Destiny: nothing at all. It is a “behind-the-scenes” patch, so there will be no patch notes. The Destiny servers should be back online soon.
Update 20:45: According to Bungie, the servers are back online. Have fun, Guardians.
