In the last issue of “Mein-MMO asks”, we asked the question of all questions: Bungie’s Destiny or Ubisoft Massive’s The Division? Which MMO shooter will you be playing this weekend on your console?
And you are reliable: You answered us – and how you answered! Over 800 gamers have cast their votes on our Facebook page!
We were allowed to read hundreds of opinions, both on FB and in the comments section below the article. Some of them were short and precise, others wonderfully detailed, where it was a pleasure to learn your statement on the topic.
In the following, we show you how you voted on the question “Destiny or The Division?” We created two charts to present your opinions visually. Furthermore, we take a look at your comments to see how the results came about.
Destiny or The Division – What you are currently playing
Let us first look at the voting results from Facebook. Here you could show with emoticons whether you are currently playing Destiny (Wow emoticon) or The Division (Haha emoticon). The following results were recorded by Sunday, May 1st:
- A total of 846 users participated.
- Destiny: 430
- The Division: 361
- Others: 55
This pie chart shows at a glance that over 50% of all participants clearly identify with Destiny. But the result for The Division can also be showcased:

What our readers say in the comments
In the comments below the article, there was also a heated discussion about which MMO shooter currently convinces more and lures players into its world. Here the results were clearer:

Note: For the creation of this chart, over 200 comments were scrutinized, and a tally was kept of which game each user chose. Under “Others” are those who either play both games equally or currently put both on the shelf.
Nearly two-thirds of all users have favored Destiny, often deciding with the words “Definitely Destiny!” But how did this clear result come about?
Destiny is being played this week – not just because of Iron Banner
Three aspects were particularly emphasized in the comments that could explain this result:
- Iron Banner is happening in Destiny this week:
As our reader Dave rightly points out, Iron Banner is currently happening in Destiny; certainly a reason why many users are currently playing Bungie’s MMO shooter more, as there are top weapons to grab from Lord Saladin.
marty is currently having “real fun” with Destiny as well, and he also cites Iron Banner as a reason. He only plays The Division occasionally in the evenings. In the end, he is very satisfied with both games.
Generally, in the comments, the pronounced PvP aspect of Destiny is often preferred to that of The Division. Apparently, the Crucible is more appealing to many players than the Dark Zone – not just when Iron Banner is taking place.
- Destiny impresses with outstanding gunplay:
As TobiTobse Schumi mentions, the gunplay in Destiny is “comparatively good”. He cannot get warm with The Division in this respect. This opinion is also shared by Destiny Man and vvV AmNesiA Vvv. Dirk Wünnenberg could not get used to the third-person perspective and the gunplay of The Division, so he will remain loyal to Destiny.
Luphie says he loves the gunplay of Destiny; The Division did not convince him from the start. Flying Horseman finds the gunplay to be excellent as well, and he also appreciates the new features introduced in the April update.
The “basics” in Destiny are right. In The Division, Flying Horseman found the story entertaining and interesting, but then it quickly became monotonous for him.
- The Division is plagued by too many bugs and exploits:
Our reader reptile chose Destiny because The Division is “simply still too buggy”; the glitches and cheats annoy him – like probably all other agents as well. He sees potential in The Division, but as long as these problems are not resolved, he will not be playing it anymore.
Also, Chariot1810 echoes this sentiment, adding that The Division was “mega fun” in the first playthrough, but “everything quickly lost its shine.” Who knows, maybe future updates can bring excitement back to the post-apocalypse.
Our reader Pascal V. was immediately captivated by Destiny. He still enjoys the MMO shooter today and ends his comment with “Long live Destiny!”
But The Division is also enjoyed:
Blackiceroosta clearly chooses The Division. He admits that it still has many problems at the moment, but it is “very fun to walk through the Dark Zone with the crew.” groovy666 also enjoys experiencing “the craziest situations” with his teammates in the DZ. So far, he has avoided the worst bugs.
Additionally, groovy666 points out – and I personally find this a remarkable opinion – that he finds it exciting to witness the evolution of The Division, to experience all the ups and downs, and to see how the developers address all the problems. This journey is definitely adventurous!
A positive aspect of The Division that is mentioned multiple times, such as by chevio, is the complex gear system of Ubisoft’s shared-world shooter. You have to think to realize certain builds, as there are so many ways to combine skills and talents.
Stan Patrick succinctly chooses The Division: The game simply captivated him, “and there seems to be no end.” However, something needs to be done about all the gameplay errors.
Finally, here are words from the community that portray both MMO shooters in a good light. As our reader Ace Ffm puts it:
I wouldn’t want to miss either, because these two games have opened up a great new shooter world for me that I didn’t know.
Hopefully, both MMO shooters will continue to bring us much joy in the future.
