The makers of the online shooter Destiny, Bungie, have released an impressive multiplayer trailer on the occasion of gamescom. The PvP mode shown in the video strongly resembles a massive battle in an MMO at certain points.
During the press conference, the developers proudly announced that their costly project is the most pre-ordered video game in history. However, this milestone has a small flaw: this impressive statistic applies to games trying their luck as a new brand.
The signs are good for Destiny, which officially launches on September 9. But this is just the beginning, according to Bungie. Already in December, the first expansion “The Dark Below” will be released; after all, this is a long-term project – no wonder, with a budget of supposedly 500 million dollars.
Over 5 million people have already played Destiny in the beta. Analysts go even further and estimate that the MMO shooter will easily sell more than 20 million copies.
Now back to the video. In this, player-versus-player battles can be seen taking place in an arena in the Crucible. Teams can expect challenging objectives, as there are multiple ways to decide the match in their favor.
