In Destiny, Guardians can explore and discover a new zone with the “Rise of Iron” expansion: The Plaguelands.
In the Destiny universe, the Wall has been stretching along the southern border of the Cosmodrome for centuries. In the fall, when you play the “Rise of Iron” expansion, this protective barrier will have collapsed.
Together with Lord Saladin, you will now venture out, into the Plaguelands. There you will learn about the fate of the Iron Lords and confront the rising danger.
The Plaguelands in Destiny
In a conversation with PlayStationsLifeStyle, executive producer Scott Taylor talks about the Plaguelands and explains what makes this area so unique.
The Plaguelands are a new zone on Earth, which you can fly to from orbit. To explore it, according to Taylor, click on Earth in the Navigator. The map of Earth will now unfold in a modified form before you: it will be extended significantly to the right. There you can then select which zone on Earth you want to go to. The Plaguelands have their own landing point.
In terms of size, the Plaguelands are said to be “large”. When you are in the zone, you should be able to feel the vastness. As soon as you take your first step into this zone, you will spot many places that you can also discover. This large-scale zone stands in contrast to the Dreadnaught, which you typically traverse in enclosed spaces.
Taylor wants to describe the Plaguelands as a “significantly new zone” that not only offers plenty of space but also many activities. The zone is also filled with “meat” – and uniqueness.
This uniqueness manifests itself in the fact that there will be some new patrols and public events in the Plaguelands. However, he does not want to spoil the details, but states that they are all “very nice”. You will also encounter various secrets “of all kinds” while wandering through the lands.
Here is what we already know: The entire area is infected by the SIVA outbreak (plagued) and the vile Devil Splicers cause chaos and devastation.
When asked if Lord Saladin would also be present at Sparrow League events – after all, a wide area like the Plaguelands is perfect for this kind of fun – Taylor said he hadn’t asked Lord Saladin about that yet. He did not provide concrete information about it.
