In the MMO shooter Destiny, an update was rolled out on October 28 to stabilize the servers and the final boss Atheon.
Just a few minutes ago, Bungie released information on their website about the latest hotfix/update for their MMO shooter Destiny. Update 1.0.2.3 is meant to make the game even more stable. There are also changes in the endgame to make the challenge as difficult as it should be. For instance, the push exploit has been fixed, but the changes are even more profound: Atheon now selects players randomly for his ability “Timestream”, so that no one can specialize in one role anymore. Bungie refers to this design change as a “fix”, which we have extensively covered in an article.
The announced buff to the Vex Mythoclast is not included in the patch notes. So far, the changes are only available in English; we have freely translated them into German for you.
General
- Fixed an issue that caused various bugs with the Zebra error code.
- Error messages that previously came with the Zebra error message will now show their own error codes.
- Fixed a rare issue that caused players to be thrown back to orbit multiple times.
- Fixed a rare issue that caused players to be repeatedly launched back to orbit with a Cockatoo error message.
Server
- Fixed an issue that caused players to be ejected from the game due to a server error when starting an activity.
- The protection against account corruption has been strengthened.
Raid
- Fixed an issue that prevented Atheon from selecting random players for his ability “Timestream” in the final encounter of the raid “The Glass Vault”.
- Removed an exploit that allowed Atheon to be pushed off the platform.
Future plans in Destiny include exotic weapons and voice chat
These changes are now live. Almost more exciting than this news are the plans for the future. In the near future, players can expect to:
- continue to work on the balance of exotic weapons.
- introduce a way for players to communicate via voice, even if they are randomly matched through matchmaking.
- increase the number of bounties a player can have at the same time.
Oh, one more thing: Halloween
One more thing changes with the patch. Guardians in Destiny should find an item in their post called “Jackolyte” (a reference to the traditional Irish pumpkin head Jack O’Lantern). Using the Jackolyte leads to the infamous Pumpkin Head syndrome. The package comes with a small card, stating that as a resurrected being, there is every reason to celebrate Halloween. The Jackolyte has three charges of 30 minutes each.

Update 19:15: According to reports from numerous users across all platforms, the update has brought some issues, especially reports with the error code Monkey are increasing. Bungie is aware of this and is working on a solution.
