With the Destiny Update 2.4.0 approaching, it brings changes even before the launch of “Rise of Iron”.
In this week’s “This Week at Bungie”, the weekly letter to the community from DeeJ, the focus is on the near future of the MMO shooter. PAX West is coming up. Bungie is heading to Seattle to meet some Guardians and hold Private Matches, the upcoming feature that allows you to create and play your own PvP games.
A tournament will even be held on-site on Saturday, where some items from the Bungie Store can be won. Unfortunately, if you are not in Seattle, we in Germany (and Austria and Switzerland) will have little access to this.
However, all Guardians worldwide can look forward to a preview of the Private Matches before the launch of RoI. On September 13 at 7 PM, “Major League Gaming” will hold private games via a Twitch livestream. These streamers are set to show you “the true meaning of war” before you can play the Private Matches yourselves. The Supremacy mode will be played in a Best-of-Five matchup.
Update 2.4.0 on PS4 and Xbox One
On September 8, 2016, Guardians on PS4 and Xbox One must download Update 2.4.0. This patch prepares for the launch of “The Rise of Iron”.
Maintenance work will take place that day, and it is expected to last quite a while: from 5 PM to 1 AM. Subsequently, the update will be available for download. For us in Central Europe, it will likely be September 9 when the patch can be downloaded.
With this update, two important changes come:
- Preparation for Ingame Clan Roster: With RoI, changes are coming to the clan system. An ingame roster will be displayed. In preparation for this, starting with Update 2.4.0, clan features will be disabled. Your clan name will no longer be displayed in-game. Bungie will contact you before this is reinstated.
- Sterling Treasures: After Update 2.4.0, you can only receive one Sterling Treasure per week: By playing the Prison of Elders at level 41.
Furthermore, from September 20, the Eververse will no longer sell Sterling Treasures for Silver. They will be replaced by “Radiant Treasures”, which can contain “Silver Dust” and all new ornaments. (Really all? Some time ago, it was read at GameInformer that some, like the Trials ornaments, can only be earned through specific activities. However, DeeJ refers to all new ornaments).
