In a second installment to Destiny, a Destiny 2, players will likely be able to carry over their old Guardian. This acknowledges Bungie’s understanding of the players’ connection to their avatars.
Destiny is designed for ten years, with three main games set to be released during this time: a massive project. But what is it going to be like? Will players have to start all over again? Is everything achieved in Destiny 2 going to be for nothing? The main complaint with this is: “Then I have to start all over again.”
No, probably not.
It is likely that players will be able to play the Hunter, Warlock, or Titan that they have created, raised, equipped with weapons, and grown fond of somewhere along the way, in Destiny 2 as well.
Even at Bungie, they do not want to miss their characters in Destiny
This comes from an interview with IGN with the community manager and spokesperson for Destiny, DeeJ: “The plan is for players to be able to take their Guardian, whom they have created, along on the journey. When looking at how players have experienced other games over such a long time, they form a close bond with the character over the years.”
This is something they want to consider in Destiny as well. DeeJ has also grown attached to “his little guy”.
Mein MMO says: “The progress will carry over” is quite an interesting statement. After all, Bungie surely wants to give fresh players the opportunity to catch up with the veterans from Destiny 1 in Destiny 2.
How do they plan to do that?
Destiny veterans will hardly be allowed to skip the first 60 hours of “Destiny 2” so that they can immediately be at the endgame and get bored. When it finally arrives in a year and a half to three years, it’s sure to be an exciting story. However, if players only retained the shell of their Guardian, it would be quite disappointing. Perhaps some percent lead or a buff? What do you think?
