What happens to the light level?
The new light level is NOT just a “gear score”, meaning it’s not just a number, but the number itself influences the damage you deal or receive. This means that if you equip a “weaker” weapon that lowers your light level, you will take “more damage” even if the defense value remains the same.
However, there should not be such drastic jumps as between “light level 33 and light level 34” in Year 1.
How will the Guardian become stronger?
The vertical progression (from level 25 to level 40) is expected to be significantly shortened compared to the “vertical progression” in Year 1 (like from light level 28 to 34). Here, the hunt for raid gear and upgrade materials proved to be time-consuming and also perceived as unfair.
In Year 2, everyone will reach level 40 sooner or later, and there will be more opportunities to “improve horizontally”, meaning at the same power level, as there will be more gear options and more nuances to optimize the Guardian. Players will then seek interactions between individual items.
