In Destiny, the Iron Banner runs in October 2016. We take a closer look at “The Proud Tower Peak” and “The Unyielding Tree”.
On October 4th at 7 PM, Lord Saladin and the Guardians welcomed a new character in Destiny: Efrideet. This former Iron Lord returns after her mysterious disappearance and is seen as the point of contact for the new Iron Banner. In addition to fresh bounties and armor pieces (Iron Saga), she also brings two weapons, which we will now look at.
“The Proud Tower Peak” and “The Unyielding Tree”
Efrideet lists class-specific items and two weapons as event rewards in her inventory: a shotgun and an auto rifle. Both cost 50 Legendary Marks each and require certain Iron Banner ranks before they can be purchased.
Note: These two weapons can also drop randomly after Iron Banner matches. They will come with random perks. The two weapons in Efrideet’s offering, however, always have the same perks this week.
The Shotgun “The Proud Tower Peak”
This shotgun is available starting from rank 4. It was forged in honor of Silimar and represents a special weapon with Arc damage. “The Proud Tower Peak” has its advantages in above-average stability, very high reload speed, magazine size, aim assist, and the time to ready the weapon. However, the base range is low.
This archetype may struggle in PvP against those with high impact and range, such as in “A Last Attempt 001“. However, it has its uses in PvE.
Here is the fixed perk selection:
Choice between:
- Enhanced Barrel: Increased range, Slower reload.
- Oiled Frame: Faster reload, Reduced range.
Choice between:
- Shooting Snapshot: Aiming goes faster.
- Magazin Cache: Larger magazine, Reduced stability.
Choice between:
- Supply: The magazine will be refilled when you use your super.
- Tracker: Aiming increases the effect range.
With Linear Compensator, Improved Ballistics, and Field Choke, you can influence recoil, impact, and range.
The Auto Rifle “The Unyielding Tree”
This weapon can be acquired starting from Iron Banner rank 5. It was forged in honor of Saladin.
The Unyielding Tree belongs to the archetype with minimal impact, but maximum rate of fire. The weapon has a very short “Time to Kill”, requiring 17 body shots to defeat another Guardian. Furthermore, aim assist, magazine size, and reload speed are strong. However, the downsides are readily apparent when looking at the stats: Range and stability are poor. However, you can address this with the perks.
The fixed perk selection is:
Choice between:
- Perfect Balance: The recoil is extremely low.
- Reinforced Barrel: Increased range, Reduced stability.
Choice between:
- Lightweight: When held, grants +2 character agility.
- Magazin Cache: Larger magazine, Reduced stability.
Choice between:
- Hidden Hand: This weapon improves target acquisition.
- Hip Fire: Additional precision when firing from the hip.
The optics are: Iron Red Dot, Iron Warrior Sight, and Iron Long Range Scope. This allows you to influence range, target acquisition, and recoil.
Note: You can acquire even more Iron Banner weapons this week by completing bounties with Efrideet. Here, weapons can drop that she does not have in her inventory, such as the fusion rifle “The Brand Marked Lord”.
What do you think of these weapons?
