In Destiny, the “Age of Triumph” marks the end of one of the longest questlines in the game: The path to the mountaintop.
“The Mountaintop” is the final step of an elaborate Crucible questline that many PvP non-enthusiasts have never completed. When the “Year 2” Triumph moments in Destiny went live, it came back into focus and many Guardians tackled the rocky climb to the mountaintop. Because the mountaintop was a triumph moment that they wanted to check off in their triumphs record.
“The Mountaintop” begins with Lord Shaxx in the quest “Forged in the Crucible.” This is followed by 7 more quest steps that take you all across the Crucible and require quite a bit of effort.
The individual tasks are not all that difficult, but they require a lot of endurance from you. Anyone who generally plays little PvP eventually gave up on this quest. You can read all quest steps to the mountaintop here.
Age of Triumph removes the mountaintop
Once you have completed the eight quest steps and are at Crucible rank 3, Lord Shaxx offers you weekly Crucible bounties. Here you must regularly show your skills in a specific PvP mode, and in the end, there are tasty rewards.
Those who could or wanted to never complete the mountaintop do not have access to these bounties. This is set to change with Age of Triumph.
As Bungie recently announced, “The Mountaintop” will be discontinued with the release of the Age of Triumph. After that, it can no longer be fully completed. If you are in the middle of a quest step, you can still complete it after March 28, but no further steps will follow.
It is important to note:
- In order to receive weekly Crucible bounties, the completion of the mountaintop is no longer necessary with Age of Triumph.
- Once this questline is discontinued, the legendary “The Hothead” rocket launcher will no longer be available.
Lord Shaxx brings two bounties with AoT
Lord Shaxx brings two weekly bounties with Age of Triumph that will offer rewards at Nightfall level. “Generosity” is a motto at AoT, so you can get all the items you have been wanting for months before Destiny 2.
In addition to these innovations, there are further changes to the Crucible: With AoT, there will be fewer PvP playlists, but more bounties will be added – including a Hand Cannon bounty that can contain Eyasluna. All info in the link.
What do you think about the discontinuation of The Mountaintop?
