The mystery of the Level 31 Guardian in Destiny is solved. It was no fake, no yeti, no black swan, but the star in the new trailer for Destiny.
A few days ago, on Sunday, we reported on DrCrispy93, who was already level 31 and appeared in the Destiny database, heavily armed with some of the new weapons from the DLC “Darkness Awaits”. On reddit, people speculated that this was a fake from destinydb. They analyzed the statistics and found parallels to employees of the site. With this theory, they were at least half right. But it was not a solo tour by destinydb to promote their own offerings, but apparently the number was a preparation for a marketing campaign by Bungie and Activision.
They published a special trailer today that is designed to get viewers ready for the expansion “Darkness Awaits” and was created with a wink. It’s not about being particularly epic or taking the story seriously, but rather speaking to the Guardians with the cool stuff waiting for them, and also speaking their language.
It is to be assumed that the guys from Destinydb were involved and created this “fictional character” and also ensured that he was made known. This is called guerrilla marketing. Not bad, Bungie.
The trailer clearly focuses on the “loot addiction factor” in the game and indulges a certain weapon fetishism. There is hardly any denying it, and it often befalls us when we illustrate articles, look up and see that we’ve posted three different phallic symbols again. Anyway: Enjoy the video.
