In the shooter MMO Destiny, the next raid is really going to the moon in December. The community manager confirmed it in passing during the weekly update: The next raid will be Crota’s End.
It’s quite the horror with these leaks. It’s hard to know what is confirmed by Bungie and what might be nonsense. Even community managers might get mixed up and accidentally reveal the name of the raid for the December expansion “The Dark Below”.
Bungie mentions Crota’s End as the next raid in a blog post
The matter of leaks in Destiny has been a tradition; even before it started, a player with keen eyes and a telescope-like view spotted a clue in a background image that the first raid would lead to the moon. Since release, there’s actually been some kind of “leak” or “bug” or “glitch” every week that sparks speculation about where the announced DLCs will go next.
So many are now talking about the next raid going to the moon and being called Crota’s End that the community manager may have lost track of the fact that these were previously only wild speculations based on leaks, datamining, and bugs. Now he has let the cat out of the bag in his weekly update, a blog post. The Vex Mythoclast, he wrote, is supposed to be strong enough to still be useful to players in the next raid, “Crota’s End.” Oops. That was supposed to be a secret, right? Or did someone say that before? Who knows? Anyway, now it’s official!
Mythoclast’s power tail is long enough for players to rely on in the next Raid. For a player and their group of six who beat Atheon on Hard mode, we’d like the Mythoclast to be a weapon they can continue to rely on in the next Raid, Crota’s End.
Leaking becomes a popular sport in Destiny
A few weeks ago, a player couldn’t log into Destiny but was able to see what was coming with “The Dark Below” and “House of Wolves,” the two already known expansions. Among them was also the raid “Crota’s End” on the moon, which was intended for “The Dark Below,” the December expansion.
Bungie hasn’t commented much on this; they only said that these could be placeholder names, and not to set expectations too high. With the current “slip of the tongue,” that should change.
And what drops beautifully there?
It’s quite likely that the raid will go up to level 30 on “normal” and up to level 32 on “hard”; that would mean that with The Dark Below, the maximum level will also be raised. Officially, however, this hasn’t been confirmed yet. At least not to our knowledge. The current raid “The Glass Chamber” starts at level 26 and is set for level 28. The screen from the bug shows that “Crota’s End” starts at 28, so that would make sense.

In recent days, dataminers at destinydb have found items that are currently not in the game. Among them were raid sets and some weapons thematically fitting for the raid. We’ve attached a pic that speculates about what exactly drops in Crota’s End. Additionally, we have a list of the probable class armors for you.

A bit further this image goes on Imgur, where missions and weapons are further organized. According to the post, there would be five new exotic weapons and nine fresh exotic armor pieces in The Dark Below (3 for each class). Also, in the raid Crota’s End, there will be not just one set of raid armors but two, divided into Tier 1 and Tier 2. The first would likely drop in normal mode, the second “better” set then in hard mode. Nine more legendary weapons are planned here as raid weapons.
As mentioned: Very little of this has been confirmed so far. Since yesterday, however, the theories sound significantly more plausible.
