The No Land Beyond was initially regarded as the weakest exotic in the game upon its introduction with “Darkness lurks.” Over time, the weapon developed into a hidden gem – and after the update 2.5.0.2, it is the dominant weapon in the Trials of Osiris.
The No Land Beyond is a sniper rifle with a unique ability: It is equipped in the primary slot. In terms of stats, it corresponds to the Icebreaker archetype:
The reason for its current dominance lies in the changes to special ammo. In elimination matches, including Trials, you now only start the first round with special ammo. At the beginning of each subsequent round, “special ammo” is removed. This means that Guardians are now relying on the primary weapon NLB to continue sniping across the maps.
Over 12% of all kills in Trials are made with this weapon! The second primary weapon comes in at about half of the kills. This shows: Guardians do not want to give up their snipers despite the changes to special weapons. In other game modes, such as Control, No Land Beyond is not as dominant, but it is always represented in the top ten.
