The new benchmark in the primary slot are now hand cannons – across all game modes, they consistently rank at the top. In the first days after the patch, for example, in Control, the hand cannons and auto rifles were the dominating weapon types, but in recent days, the trend has shifted more towards “hand cannons”.
In general, the range and aim assist were reduced, but there was a “significant increase in initial accuracy”. This means that the bullets now land more reliably where you aim.
A representative of this powerful weapon type is the Falkenmond. Once, it was a PlayStation-exclusive weapon that represented power in PvP during the early days of Destiny. By the time the Falkenmond came to Xbox in Year 2, it had already been significantly weakened.
Since patch 2.5.0.2, the Falkenmond is back on the rise and is considered one of the best exotic primary weapons in PvP. It belongs to the popular archetype with an impact of 81 and comes with solid base stats regarding range, stability, and reload speed. The magazine size is outstanding:
The unique perks of the Falkenmond are Double-Ass and Roulette, which cause random shots to deal increased damage. When the perks activate, they are well appreciated in combat.
While the Falkenmond may not reach the glory days of Year 1, it is once again a strong weapon that can achieve several kills in PvP.
