Next week, there will be changes to the Challenge of the Elders in Destiny.
Since the April update, the Prison of Elders has come back to life. This PvE endgame activity was introduced with the “House of Wolves” update, lost significant relevance with “The Taken King”, and has seen a resurgence since April.
The biggest challenge is the Challenge of the Elders. With the Elder Seal in the inventory and a weapon in hand, the Guardians venture into the prison to eagerly collect points.
Each week, Bungie has previously announced the boss enemies, modifiers, and the requirements for bonus points. In total, 16 “Challenge of the Elders” have been pre-designed by Bungie, ensuring that the player experience differs from the previous one over a span of 16 weeks.
Since the launch of the April update, these 16 weeks have now passed. Currently, you are playing the last Challenge of the Elders that has been set by Bungie itself. What awaits you next week?
Randomness Takes Over
As the Community Manager Cozmo informs, you are currently in the last week where the modifiers are still handpicked by Bungie. Starting August 2, with the weekly reset on Tuesday, this “care” will end. However, the fun won’t simply start over; randomness will come into play.
From now on, each week, two modifiers and the bonus condition for extra points will be assigned randomly. The boss enemies will also be based on randomness in the future. As Cozmo says:
Things could get crazy.
Otherwise, nothing changes with the Challenge of the Elders. The rewards remain the same, and the requirements on the Elder Seal probably will too. Only now you are no longer at the mercy of Bungie, but rather of randomness. Let’s hope everything works out.
What do you think about this change? How active are you still in the prison?
