In the MMO shooter Destiny , some items have been found in the database that hint at a new event.
On Friday guardians received a letter titled “Days of Dawning”. The letter included instructions on how to obtain an emblem; you just have to complete an activity in the coming days. This can be understood as a follow-up to Christmas. It wouldn’t be a big deal on its own.
However, in the database, guardians have discovered more items and clues related to “The Dawning”.
There are various letters and dispatches from important figures in the Tower that could initiate some kind of quest. There are also “Random Dawning Masks” found in the database. An emblem called “Destiny’s Dawn” can also be found.
Was this a planned event for the turn of the year?
Dawning or Dawn could hint at some kind of “change of the era”, suggesting that something might be happening in the story, that a new epoch is beginning. There isn’t actually any equivalent in the upcoming holidays that exist in our world, except for “New Year”, and that has already passed.
What all this means is still unknown at the moment. Bungie has stated, that they are planning a smaller event for 2016 on the scale of the Festival of the Lost, before something larger comes.
What’s strange about the matter is that something has already been released with the title Days of Dawning. Maybe these are remnants of an event that was eventually canceled. Perhaps Bungie wanted to send some greetings through the characters in the Tower for Christmas but then decided against it because it would be too similar to the Halloween Festival. Or they might still plan for it to come. Not as a “New Year’s greeting”, but as an introduction to “How the story continues”.
