The MIDA Multi-Tool has loyal supporters – and that since Year 1. This exotic scout rifle, however, has not been praised by all Guardians; many looked at it critically.
The reason for this was that there were strong alternatives in PvE. In terms of firepower, the Multi-Tool was inferior to the “Vision of Confluence” and also did not deal elemental damage. So in PvE, this scout rifle was no more than a solid weapon.
In PvP, however, the MIDA Multi-Tool supported a very specific playstyle. It excelled in speed and radar advantages. Thanks to Third Eye, the radar remained active even when looking through the MIDA scope. An advantage that is still welcome today, though it is no longer as special since the introduction of Gheleon’s Rest.
In short: The MIDA Multi-Tool demanded a skill-based playstyle that, combined with high speed and melee skills, was extremely deadly. Even today, it is considered one of the best primary weapons overall, strong at virtually all ranges.
