LDR 5001 – The sniper that shoots through walls

Let’s move on to the first legendary weapon on our list: LDR 5001. This sniper rifle was among the most popular special weapons in PvP. Why?

LDR 5001 was a sniper rifle belonging to the Icebreaker archetype and had similar handling:

In Year 1, it was one of the vendor weapons that came with the DLC “The Dark Below”. So you didn’t have to rely on luck, but could buy it with currency.

The special thing about the LDR 5001 was the perk “Armor-Piercing Rounds”, which turned the sniper into a true killer and could take down enemies even if they were seeking cover. Thus, it quickly built a reputation as a powerful sniper that shot through walls. However, this “shooting through walls” trick was later nerfed.

Nevertheless: In Year 1, it had many fans and was the favorite sniper of many Guardians. The name “LDR 5001” actually stands for “Long Distance Relationship.” After all, snipers do have some sort of relationship with their victims!

With the April update in 2016, LDR 5001 received a “Year 2” version.
