In the MMO shooter Destiny, we take a closer look at the Titan focus “Striker.” How can you get the most out of it in PvP?
The Striker is currently very popular among Guardians: Not only the devastating Super, but also the brutal Shoulder Charge is feared in the Crucible.
After “The Taken King,” many Titans primarily swung the Hammer, but for months, the Fist of Havoc has made a comeback. This is also confirmed by the official kill-death ratio of the focuses in recent weeks: Here, the Strikers are in the upper midfield – after the Hunter nerf, they are even at the top.
The Strengths of the Striker Focus
PlanetDestiny shows in a new video strategies on how you can effectively use the Striker focus.
These are the most important focus nodes:
- One of the best advantages of the Striker is the Shoulder Charge: This grants you increased lethality and, in combination with other focus nodes, a strong survivability.
A good strategy for the Shoulder Charge is attacks from above. This way, you can avoid running directly into the line of sight of your enemies. If you come from the air, the element of surprise is on your side.
- Enhanced: If you attack from the air with a melee attack and take out an enemy, your Super energy will be “significantly” charged. So if you find yourself in the midst of enemies, you might be able to unleash your Super immediately and give them a sudden end.
Additionally, you are in third-person perspective during the Shoulder Charge and Fist of Havoc animation. Use the extended view to spot your next enemy directly.
- In combination with this, you choose Transfusion: If you eliminate an enemy with the Fist of Havoc or the Shoulder Charge, your health immediately starts to regenerate. This means you are ready for the next fight.
With the Shoulder Charge, you must choose an offensive playstyle. By the time you get within striking distance of the opponent, they may have already taken away a lot of your health. However, if you hit them with the Shoulder Charge, your entire health starts to regenerate. When you turn to the next enemy, you are fully healthy again.
- Another useful focus node is Death from Above. This improves the aerial combat style and allows you to target enemies below you with the Fist of Havoc.
- The Striker Titan also has a strong grenade: The Flashbang Grenade. It deals immediate damage and releases further shocks over time, allowing you to control your enemies tactically defensively – not just in control zones.
For weapons, you should at least have one firearm for close range. After all, as a Striker, you dive right into the fray. And with just the Super and melee alone, not everything can be handled.
For example, choose a hand cannon with high impact, such as Lord High Fixer or The First Curse. But shotguns and fusion rifles are also recommended.
Thus, you are well equipped for offensive Crucible matches. You can see how the fun looks in practice in this video:
