An ominous app has appeared on Steam. Among the purchasable content is the Destiny currency Silver. Is something brewing?
An ominous application named Unknown App 347300 has been discovered in SteamDB. Apparently, this is Destiny, as the option was shown to purchase the Destiny currency Silver in various packages.

At first glance, this seems bizarre, especially since Bungie is releasing Destiny 2 on the Blizzard platform in a few weeks. Bringing the predecessor to Steam seems quite strange, especially since Bungie is minimizing support for Destiny 1 with the launch of Destiny 2.
Therefore it is curious: The app was updated just ten days ago. And it allows microtransactions.
Is the currency actually purchasable?
Yes. At least until yesterday, there were two Silver packages available for purchase: one for the symbolic amount of $0.01 and the other for $20. Some people actually bought these packages and were charged for them. However, the two links are now disabled.

As the community manager DeeJ announced a few hours ago, it was a mistake that Destiny transactions became available on Steam. All expenses will be refunded by Valve. They apologize for the confusion.
Robert says: If anyone is about to break into tears of joy because Destiny might come to Steam, they should spare themselves the effort. Activision is probably just testing something and needed a placeholder. It wouldn’t be the first time games that never appeared on PC show up on Steam. Early Halo games can still be found in SteamDB today. But there may also be plans to bring Destiny 2 to Steam one day…
