In Destiny with 2.0 a mercy rule is introduced to end bad PvP matches early. Bounties that promise exotic items will also be simply completed on Tuesday – basically as a gift.
As of Tuesday, Lord Shaxx’s saying “The Crucible is no place for mercy” is no longer valid. Because that is exactly the kind of mercy rule that is being introduced.
No exact details are given, but it is about ending Crucible matches early when it becomes apparent that one side is immensely stronger and scoring many more points.
When such an extremely one-sided match becomes evident, Lord Shaxx will end the match from the outside. No one can be assigned to such a game anymore. Players will receive their “normal” rewards after 10 seconds and the battle will be over. Winners of such matches can even earn new medals.
With this change, the aim is to:
- reduce the amount of bad matches
- prevent players from leaving early
- prevent players from being assigned to such a hopeless match in the middle
This mercy rule will likely apply relatively rarely, as can be read, and never in the Trials of Osiris or in the Elimination mode. It should also be rare in the “every man for himself” Rumble. It most often takes effect when a game threatens to become extremely one-sided in its early phase and is about to have a score difference of over 10,000.
The mercy rule seems to be active starting Tuesday. With patch 2.0, many things are supposed to change in Destiny.
And exotic weapons from bounties for PvE players
PvE players should especially be pleased about an inconspicuous passage in the last Weekly Update. “Unfinished exotic bounties from year 1 will be automatically completed at their respective vendors on Tuesday.”
This means that anyone carrying one of the annoying, incomplete bounties in their inventory, at the end of which the Thorn or another great weapon awaits (with the Thorn not being as strong on Tuesday), will receive this weapon on Tuesday without having to do anything for it. These are basically free exotics for anyone who has such a bounty.
This also applies to the three exotic weapons from the Elder Monogram, as has recently been confirmed again.
