Great criticism is currently erupting at Destiny: For Destiny 2, PvE and PvP should be better separated. All PvP nerfs come at the expense of PvE.
The Fatebringer is now just a shadow of its former self. As the Palindrome and the Eyasluna have been so dominant in the Crucible in recent months, Bungie responded with nerfs that affected all hand cannons, including the Fatebringer. “Year 1” feelings are hard to evoke with this weapon in Year 3.
With similar words, a Redditor is currently rallying the Guardians to his side. He notes that after all the nerfs and balance adjustments of recent years in PvP, it is still not optimal, while the PvE has suffered significantly under the changes. The PvE had to pay the price because Bungie has not managed to achieve proper balance in the Crucible, the user claims. Within hours, he was able to achieve over 3000 upvotes with this statement.
Besides the Fatebringer, there are many more examples that fell victim to the changes. Be it numerous special weapons, the extremely good advice, or the rocket launcher “The Truth”. In Year 1, the weapons felt particularly powerful in PvE – nowadays hardly any weapon feels truly “exotic” and unique. The former gameplay experience has been destroyed and “nerfed to death,” is the criticism.
It must get better in Destiny 2
So that necessary adjustments in PvP no longer have such devastating effects on PvE, many Guardians demand a strict separation of the two areas for Destiny 2. This separation comes too late for Destiny 1, that is clear, but for Destiny 2, this implementation could be realistic.
Balancing should no longer come at the expense of the PvE area. Instead, the developers should treat the two areas individually and address their needs separately. Furthermore, it is demanded that they do not always adjust an entire weapon category, but only the “problem cases”. There is a wish for improvement in the future, with Bungie showing more sensitivity.
The interesting thing is: Bungie has already shown that a separation of PvE and PvP is possible regarding weapon balancing.
Bungie has already shown: It is possible
In Year 1, an extensive weapon balance patch (1.1.1) was released, which brought, among other things, the novelty that shotguns dealt 100% more damage. This massive buff, however, only applied to PvE, as it was noted that in PvE activities, hardly any Guardian used the shotgun. In the Crucible, however, there was no damage buff.
Why Bungie did not continue this approach is inexplicable to many. Rumor has it that there should also be some variety in PvE and that something must be done against OP weapons even in PvE. Nevertheless, many Guardians hold the view that Bungie’s numerous PvP-related nerfs caused more harm than good in PvE.
The “Fatebringer Year 1” feeling will probably remain forever in Year 1.
What do you think about this topic? Does the community share some blame for constantly complaining about PvP and demanding adjustments, or should Bungie have simply separated PvE and PvP from the beginning?
