Personally, I found the races enjoyable. Especially with some good friends and clanmates joining in. And that’s what this game manages – bringing nice people together for fun. After all, it’s us Guardians who make Destiny this unique experience. Whether the Sparrow event will keep entertaining in the long run is questionable, though. Two tracks are just too scarce, and the entire SRL is too repetitive.
I will definitely try to complete Amanda Holliday’s quest. But after that, it might be quiet in the cereal cup. This event is definitely a welcome change from the Guardian’s daily life. In my opinion, a kind of minigame that is fun but shouldn’t be overestimated. Destiny will undoubtedly always remain a shooter and not fully transition to the racing game genre.
Maybe it’s allowed to draw the following comparison: Just as I first fulfill my workday and then turn to the pleasant sides of life, as a Guardian, I first fulfill my duties and face the hordes of enemies in Strikes, Raids, or prove myself in the Crucible; and after the work is done, I hop on my Sparrow and race towards the sunset ‒ or down that cliff. I’m definitely looking forward to the upcoming events or the upcoming “content” that is supposed to be released. Bungie, surprise us! At least I’m looking forward to it.
