In Destiny we take a look at the new Crucible maps from “The Rise of Iron”. Four new PvP maps await the Guardians.
With “Rise of Iron”, the Guardians have a lot to do again. New PvE activities around the Iron Lords and SIVA are coming, as well as some innovations in the PvP area are making their way into Destiny. In addition to a fresh game mode and the long-awaited Private Matches, a total of four additional battlefields are being introduced into the Crucible where you can unleash yourselves.
The maps are called:
- Floating Gardens
- Last Exit
- Skyline
- Icarus (PS-exclusive)
The latter map can only be explored by the PS4 Guardians among you. This map will be exclusive to Sony’s console until at least fall 2017. Xbox users will receive access only after a full year – at the earliest. You can read all PlayStation-exclusive content from “Rise of Iron” here.
Before Bungie constructs new PvP maps, they closely examine the existing maps according to Gameinformer and look at where improvement is needed. The new maps are intended to fill these “gaps” in the Crucible. If the team notices, for example: “Oh, we have too many maps for long-range and sniper action,” they will work on battlefields for close-quarters combat for the next update.
For “The Rise of Iron”, Bungie wanted to achieve two goals:
- More Crucible maps on Venus. Now, two new locations are coming to this planet.
- The maps should be suitable for a wide range of game modes.
On the following pages, we will present the four new maps in detail and garnish them with numerous screenshots.
