In the MMO shooter Destiny the update 2.5.0.2 is on the horizon. This will adjust the meta.
Last week, the community manager DeeJ announced that Bungie is working on a balance patch. The next update that will be rolled out is set to adjust the current meta and bring more variety to the Crucible for Guardians.
In this week’s “This Week at Bungie,” DeeJ gets a bit more specific. However, details or patch notes are still awaited.
The balance patch carries the number 2.5.0.2 and is set to be released in mid-February. As Bungie typically rolls out larger updates on Tuesdays, we expect it to be on February 14 or 21.
This is what the hotfix 2.5.0.2 brings
According to senior designer Josh Hamrick, the sandbox and Crucible designers examined the entire competitive ecosystem and made adjustments. He is now proud to announce that their work on the next update is nearly complete. Many experiments took place, but changes have now been found that will bring fresh air to the meta.
Here is an overview of the changes:
- There will be more alternatives and countermeasures to shotguns. Matador 64 will thus have competition.
- The power of primary weapons will be adjusted with “surgical changes.” Their effectiveness will be tweaked. Currently, special weapons dominate.
- Issues with each class will be addressed.
- Exotics will also be adjusted.
- Special ammo will also be revised.

It is understood that Guardians are thirsty for more facts and details, but concreteness will only come in the future. A livestream will be held before “mid-February” to present the changes with moving images.
By the way: Now the confirmation from Bungie that the maintenance work yesterday did not bring about changes that affect the player experience.
