In the MMO shooter Destiny , the PlayStation exclusivity of maps, weapons, and strikes is lifted, and a new exclusivity phase is added.
PlayStation exclusivity ends in Destiny – Hawkmoon for everyone!
As confirmed by Community Manager DeeJ to IGN, players on Xbox One and Xbox 360 will receive items, Crucible maps, and strikes on September 15th with the expansion “The Taken King,” which were previously only available to players on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.
This presumably also applies to items introduced with “Darkness Awaits” and “House of Wolves.” This isn’t 100% clear at the moment, but it can likely be assumed.
Most Xbox players will likely be interested in the “Hawkmoon,” which was voted one of the best PvP weapons in a survey earlier this year.
What Xbox players now get “new”
On September 15th, Xbox players will get “new” items including the hand cannon Hawkmoon, the auto rifle Monte Carlo, and the shotgun The Fourth Horseman. These should also be available from Xur.
Furthermore, there are two strikes (Dust Palace and Undying Mind) and the Crucible maps (Exodus Blue, Timekeeper), which will make it into the “normal rotation.”
And the PlayStation exclusivity begins in Destiny
Does this end the inequality so that all players are equal now? No.
There will be a “new set” of PlayStation-exclusive items that will be “withheld” from players on Xbox 360 and Xbox One, likely for another year, until September 2016.
These items are new with “The Taken King,” but only for PlayStation 3 and 4
With The Taken King (The Taken King), the following items are exclusively added for PlayStation players in Destiny:
- The strike “The Echo Chamber,” where PlayStation Guardians will have to deal with the Vex, who once again want to manipulate the clock somehow.
- The Crucible map “Sector 618,” set in the ruins of an old Earth colony where two teams compete on a “medium-sized” map. There are small chambers connected by two unprotected bridges to a large main area.
- Additionally, the scout rifle “The Jade Rabbit” (Der Jadehase) is newly added, which has 13 shots.
- Furthermore, just like in Year 1, three exclusive armor sets for the different classes are included: Hesperos (Titan), Azoth Bend (Warlock), and Neuroghast (Hunter). Bungie only mentions regarding the level of the gear sets that Guardians should look out for these complete sets when they are “above Level 20.”
Oh, by the way… no comment, but you can skip cutscenes
Also still in the IGN interview:
- There is no statement yet about possible “trophies.”
- No statement on whether the vault will be expanded or not.
- And no statement on whether the existing weapons will be upgraded or not.
- The raid is intended for 6 people and is supposed to be the hardest challenge awaiting players with “The Taken King.”
- Cutscenes can be skipped with the expansion.
