In Destiny we take a look at the exotic fusion rifle Plan C. Is it worth it in Year 3?
Currently, there is a shotgun meta in Destiny’s Crucible. When it comes to weapon choice for the special slot, many prefer the shotgun over the fusion rifle.
Fusion rifles are interesting weapons in PvP, which, although not easy to handle, can shine especially against approaching shotgun users. The exotic fusion rifle Plan C. is one of them.
How to get Plan C
This exotic is not tied to any quest and can be obtained in several ways:
- Wrath of the Machine
- King’s Fall Raid
- Nightfall Strike
- Trials of Osiris
- Xur: The Agent of the Nine sells Plan C this weekend.

What can Plan C do in Year 3?
Plan C has a medium impact of 87 and a rate of fire of 22. The reload speed stands out with a maximum of 100. The other standard values are also solid: The range is top-notch, and the stability is also decent. Compared to the “Year 1” variant, the stability has been increased by 10 points:
These are the perks:
- Plan C: Reload and equip times are very short right after switching weapons.
- Hip Fire: Increased precision when firing from the hip.
You have the choice between:
- Perfect Balance: Recoil is low.
- Accelerated Coils: Reduces the weapon’s reload time at the cost of lower damage.
- Hammer Forged: Improved range and precision.
Additionally, you can influence the range, impact, and recoil with Melee Ballistics, Field Choke, and Drift Control.
Fusion rifles love stability, as it keeps the projectiles together and increases the chance of taking down enemies at a distance with a volley.
How good is Plan C in PvP and PvE?
In PvE, Plan C is interesting due to its strong base stats. At close to medium range, you can deal significant damage to enemies, and thanks to its high reload speed, you can put out a lot of damage in a short time. Plan C is also useful when Arc Burn is active.
In PvE as well as in PvP, the exotic perk is exciting: If the opposing Guardian runs towards you and you cannot stop him with your primary weapon, switch to Plan C and fire off a volley immediately. The startup time is minimized when switching weapons. Excellent for fending off shotgun players.
Conclusion: Plan C is still a strong fusion rifle in Year 3, offering advantages in both PvE and PvP. While it may not be a “top tier” weapon – if you haven’t got it yet, you can grab it this weekend from Xur and try it out in the Crucible.
