In the MMO shooter Destiny , a hotfix was deployed this evening on June 23rd.
This came unexpectedly. Bungie deployed a hotfix 2.3.0.1 on Thursday evening. This time there was no major warning – unusual for Bungie. It is said: Download the patch, let us know how it runs, wait for what we have to announce about the Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris.
The hotfix is supposed to fix the “matchmaking” issue that led to the suspension of Iron Banner and Osiris this week. Apparently, the problem occurred when many friends participated in an activity. This prevented player searching.
Furthermore, the update for Destiny is supposed to resolve another issue with inspecting activities that many friends participate in. Well, that didn’t cause too much trouble.
The problem was people with too many friends (No, Bungie messed it up)
This new feature, “track friends”, which came with the last patch, seems to be the core of the problem and is responsible for us having to skip Osiris and Iron Banner this week.
Players with too many friends scrambled the whole system. Now there’s a cap of 10 friends who can be displayed at the same time.
Is there still going to be the June Iron Banner? And when does it start in Destiny?
If all goes well, the patch should ensure that Trials of Osiris and Iron Banner take place again. This could mean: The June Iron Banner starts next week. A day ago, it was said that there were no plans to start Iron Banner in the middle of the week. But as mentioned at the beginning: Bungie says we should wait for further statements.
If all goes smoothly, Trials of Osiris should start tomorrow, Friday, and next week there will be the June Iron Banner, as stated in “This Week at Bungie.” They also mention: Look forward to July 7th. That’s Bungie Day – we have something special planned to honor the community and its achievements.
Information about Rise of Iron will probably come at Gamescom
By the way, they do NOT want to release news about Rise of Iron “drop by drop” every Thursday in the community letter, but want to wait for an “explosive moment” in the summer.
Unofficially again: From August 17th to August 21st, Gamescom will take place in Cologne – tactically, that would probably be the ideal moment for an information explosion about Rise of Iron, which is set to be released a month later.
But well, we’ll have to wait for that. Last year there was information about a cooperation with the US magazine GameInformer – such a thing could also be conceivable, even if it’s not an “explosive moment.”
We will also have to wait a little bit for Xur. He appears on Friday, June 24th, at 11:00 AM in the Tower. We will be there to report on his offers.
