In the MMO shooter Destiny , the Companion App is becoming increasingly useful. With a new update, a significant new feature is introduced.
Destiny is a console game, but most players have a symbiotic relationship with their smartphone while playing: They control their Guardian not only with a controller but also with a second device, equipping new gear, organizing items, strategizing new killer gear combos, and extensively surfing the internet for guides and news about the game.
Always by their side: Not necessarily Ghost, but the Destiny app of their choice.
The Empire Strikes Back
Bungie now responds to fan-made competition with the Companion App and outshines it with a new feature. “Maximize Light” is the name (not to be confused with “Maximize Lag” – for which some players seem to have developed an app in the Crucible).
With this new feature, Guardians can equip the “lightest” gear across their entire account at the push of a button in the app, also picking the best from their alternate characters.

This is so convenient and useful because when receiving random rewards in Destiny, you should always try to wear the highest light gear. And the new feature of the app ensures that nothing is overlooked.
Additionally, the Companion App has been further upgraded in this “Item Manager” section and some bugs have been fixed. The element is still in beta, but now there is a belief that the “Item Manager” will be accessible to all players.
In February 2015, the change was introduced that allowed access to the inventory through the Companion App: It was called Mobile Vault. A few days later, these item sorting features were already adopted by other apps that emerged from fan projects, which were simply clearer.
With the change, the Companion App seems to be making a comeback. However, the “competitor” apps have already announced that they also want to introduce this “equip the best stuff” feature.
