In Destiny, today, on July 7th, Bungie Day is being celebrated. The only question is: How?
Update 7 PM: The Triumphs for Year Two are live. Here you can find out all about it!
Update 6:12 PM: The matchmaking settings are now live – in the Control mode. Additionally, it was communicated via Twitter that you should prepare for Bungie Day.
Bungie has a thing for the number 7: it is considered the favorite number of the development studio. You often encounter this number in the Halo series, but it also appears in Destiny: For example, you unlock a trophy / achievement when you reach 777 Grimoire Points. It is no coincidence that the Bungie community is referred to as the “7th Column”. Therefore, on the seventh day of the seventh month, Bungie Day is celebrated. And as luck would have it, this day is today.
In the last letter to the community, the developers mentioned that next week there will be an “event that celebrates you all”, coming up – in this week, in which we currently find ourselves. Currently, there is no indication of what this event will specifically be or when exactly it will go live. There is speculation that it could be about the Moments of Triumph for Year 2 of Destiny.
Update: On the official Bungie website, under “Triumphs,” you can already find the tab with the “Year 2” Triumphs. However, you cannot click on it yet:
There is currently no indication of festive spirit. Instead, Bungie is conducting a test in the Crucible today, in the PvP area of the shooter.
On July 7th, a matchmaking test will take place, but what about the event?
Last night, the developers announced that they are working on the Crucible settings. According to Senior Designer Derek Carroll, the new settings will result in players at the extreme ends of the skill curve seeing shorter matchmaking times. The connection quality remains the primary search criterion. Matchmaking times will be shorter, but the skill range of teammates will be larger.
These PvP settings were supposed to be tested yesterday in Control mode, but the test was aborted immediately. Some errors occurred.
The test is now taking place again: On the morning of July 7th – which is in the afternoon for us. The exact time will be announced in advance. Currently, nothing is known. When Bungie speaks up, you will find out here.
But new matchmaking settings are nice and all – what about the promised event?
In recent days, we have received more messages along the lines of: “What is up with the event?”, “Is there any news about the event?”, “You must know something about this event!” But unfortunately, we know as little about it as you do. Bungie is still keeping it under wraps. As soon as they reveal the secret, you will find out in a timely manner from us.
A hint was left by Bungie in the last status report: “Next week, right at this moment, it will be Bungie Day. It is not about us. It is about you.”
Therefore, we assume that there will be more information about this event in the next letter to the community. It will be released sometime this evening. However, sometimes it comes very late at night.
What do you think Bungie will pull out of the hat?
