The Weekly Update for Destiny promises more features for the patch that is supposed to come next week. The weekly heroic strike will be equipped with a mandatory matchmaking system, Xur is expected to be nicer, and the boredom with the maps will stop.
The patch 1.1.1 is looming. It is supposed to come next week, fix the bug with heavy ammunition, turn the balance of weapon types upside down, and spare guardians the hassle of checking their reputation on foot in the Tower.
A little more matchmaking for Destiny
On Thursday night, there was the next piece of information in the Weekly Update: With the patch, the weekly heroic strike will only be reachable through the matchmaking system. Players can then let the system roll two guardians to their side to take on the Weekly Heroic. There are strange coins and a random modifier every week. It is basically the little brother of the Nightfall.
It has been decided to allow “matchmaking” here because the Weekly is relatively easy compared to the weekly Nightfall strike and the raids. The “No Matchmaking” rules will continue to apply there. However, the team is seriously looking into whether they can offer some relief for raids.
The downside of this change now: The weekly heroic strikes can no longer be tackled solo.
Xur will be nicer and more maps for the Iron Banner
There were also four bits of information regarding the patch:
- Xur, the Agent of the Nine, will always have an Engram with him in the patch.
- The Iron Banner is currently suffering from a lack of maps. This is expected to change with the next update. Then they want to finally increase the variety of maps as promised.
- Additionally, they want to implement a kind of “repeat protection” so that players do not get the same strikes or crucible map in a row when they stay with their team in a playlist – or at least less frequently.
- And Bungie wants to fix some bugs regarding the Grimoire cards.
It sounds like the patch will really be coming next week. The community manager can’t promise it, but it looks very likely.
However, we can promise that Xur, the Agent of the Nine, will also stop by the Tower again on February 20 at 10:00 AM. We will be there to report on it.
