The Crota gear comes with the most striking ornaments. Green glowing spikes protrude from the armor pieces. The design idea behind it is that your armor has absorbed so much Hive energy after all the Hive kills that it now pulses and shines out of the armor.
Interesting: When you take damage, this energy effect disappears. The horns grow back once you have recovered.
