In the MMO shooter Destiny, data miners have discovered that the new exotic weapons require 17.5% less experience points to be fully upgraded. However, nearly nothing changes for exotic armors.
In the last Weekly Update from Bungie, one point caused a particular stir: Exotic weapons and armors will require less time and fewer materials to be fully upgraded.
This came just as the mood had heated up a bit in the last days. Many Guardians were and are upset that they can bring their “old” Exotics up to date with “Darkness Lurks”, but then receive bare versions of the Exotics that they have to level up again and upgrade with materials.
In the update, they spoke of “significant” reliefs. But how big are they?
17.5% less experience from bare to “fully upgraded”
A user on reddit has calculated how much this savings actually amounts to. He took a current exotic weapon (Bad Karma), which needs 285,000 experience points to unlock the final upgrades.
Data miners have already gathered the values for the new exotic weapons, such as “No Land Beyond”, a new exotic sniper rifle. It requires 237,500 experience points, which is 17.5% less.
What is changing for the exotic armors in Destiny?
The savings for exotic armors are not nearly as significant. Current armor requires 162,500; the new exotic armor requires 160,000. That’s only 1.5% less.
Data from data miners should always be taken with caution. Images, models, values, and codes are loaded into the database by Bungie weeks before they are needed in Destiny. Whether they then “really” become active is hard to say. However, it seems to fit.
On Tuesday, when the DLC “Darkness Lurks” goes live, and with it the new exotic weapons and armors come, we will definitely know.
