Destiny‘s autumn expansion “The Rise of Iron Lords” will bring the fourth raid into the game. Bungie shares some information about it.
For many Guardians, raids are the highlights in Destiny: Facing a powerful enemy together and using skill and teamwork to achieve victory – that brings joy to every PvE enthusiast’s heart.
Therefore, there is always great anticipation for the raids in Destiny. What enemies do you have to face? How extensive and varied will it be? And will a new raid ever match “The Vault of Glass”?
The raid of “The Rise of Iron Lords”
Bungie always keeps the new raid under wraps and rarely shares concrete information before the expansion is actually released. They do not quench the Guardians’ thirst for knowledge – they are supposed to discover the secrets and mechanics of the fresh 6-player group activity (the new raid is also designed for six players) by themselves.
In an interview with GameSpot, Bungie’s Creative Lead, Christopher Barrett, spoke cautiously about the upcoming raid. Right at the start, he made it clear that he would not spoil any secrets. However, he did make a few statements.
The new raid will revolve around the Fallen and take place in the Plaguelands, a new zone. SIVA, a forbidden technology from the Golden Age, has broken out and brought along an army of Fallen mutants. They use SIVA to fuse flesh and metal, becoming “machine gods” themselves. In the raid, you must put an end to the “true origin” of the SIVA outbreak.
Barrett is particularly taken with the setting of the raid. It takes place on Earth, and as hinted at in the trailer, the scale of it is “very cool”. The Guardians walk along the Wall, creating a “big, open, epic feeling”.
This spaciousness will feel unique according to Barrett, compared to the other raids. These were “rather dark dungeons and such things.” In the new raid, the Guardians should have plenty of space around them.
