In Destiny, the Necrochasm is back. How does the Exotic perform in PvE and PvP?
In Year 1, the Necrochasm was one of the most sought-after weapons in Destiny: Guardians had to endure a arduous path around Eris Morn and the Crota raid to obtain this Exotic. In the end, it was a special automatic rifle with Arc damage.
Even in Year 3, the Necrochasm is tied to a quest, which can be mastered within a relatively short time. We have prepared the quest steps for you in this article.
But is it even worth it to get the Necrochasm? Can it do anything in PvE and the Crucible?
Stats and Perks of the Necrochasm in Year 3
The Necrochasm is an exotic automatic rifle that belongs to the archetype with the highest rate of fire and the lowest impact. It delivers Arc damage.
In terms of stats, the Necrochasm can convince: The optimal Time-to-Kill is solid at 0.87. Stability, reload speed, magazine size, and aim assist also hold their own. One downside is its low range:
These are the perks:
- Cursed Bring: Kills trigger a “Cursed Thrall” explosion – In Year 1, precise kills were also required
- Cascade: Each melee kill automatically reloads part of the magazine – about 11 rounds per melee kill
- Zen Moment: Damage inflicted increases stability
You have the choice between:
- Adjusted Stock: Increases weapon stability
- Single Point Sling: Switch weapons faster, move faster while aiming
- Longer Magazine: Reload speed is higher
Additionally, you have Melee Ballistics, Improved Ballistics, and Aggressive Ballistics to slightly influence impact, recoil, and range. Here, choose either Aggressive Ballistics for a slightly increased damage output or Melee Ballistics, which makes the weapon easier to control.
As a fast-firing automatic rifle, the Necrochasm only wants one thing: More stability. Zen Moment and Adjusted Stock are therefore urgently needed.
The Necrochasm in PvE and PvP
In PvP, the Necrochasm is recommended for short to medium distances. At long range, this pew-pew has serious problems. For the optimal Time-to-Kill, you need 13 precision hits and one body shot, which becomes difficult at longer range due to its stability and low range.
Moreover, you will often find that you gather numerous assists with it. By the time the enemy goes down, several shots need to hit the target. By then, the enemy may have already vanished behind the next cover – and will then be eliminated by another Guardian.
In PvE, the Necrochasm competes with the tried and true Zhalo Supercell when Arc Burn is active. Both weapons can handle plentiful adds excellently – the Zhalo with its chained lightning, and the Necrochasm with the Cursed Bring perk, which causes enemies to explode. And which Guardian doesn’t enjoy launching enemies into the air …
In both PvE and PvP, the Necrochasm can impress. The biggest downside is that it is an Exotic and faces stiff competition in the Exotic slot. However, it is certainly good for some fun moments.
