For Destiny, there are updates about the near future: A weapon balancing is coming.
In this week’s “This Week at Bungie”, there are two announcements made by the community manager DeeJ: One event from last year is canceled and a balance patch is on the agenda.
What content update is coming in spring?
The Crimson Days will be skipped in 2017. Last year, it was a one-week Valentine’s Day event, where you could team up in pairs in the Crucible. There were pretty shaders and ghost shells to win.
This time, Bungie has “other plans”. They will provide the Guardians with different things to play. The next content update from the live team is coming together, and they are already “super excited” to talk about it.
However, they will only do this in the future through livestreams. Then, Bungie will show how we “spend spring together”.
A balancing act is coming
If everything goes as planned, according to DeeJ, the next update will adjust weapon balance. However, he does not yet provide a specific date or the exact changes.
He emphasizes that with each content update, different weapons will come to the forefront – a perfect balance does not exist. However, Bungie is searching for it.
A month ago, the sandbox team stated that they will closely examine player data, feedback, and their own experiences before making changes to the balance. They see the shotgun dominance, yet they do not want to nerf Matador 64 into the ground. Instead, they want to better integrate shotguns into the balance.
According to DeeJ, the goal is to bring a balance patch that changes the current meta before another “call to arms” sounds. Testing is already underway, and the solution is close.
At the end of the letter, the community manager mentions that they now have some action to enjoy, and that there are some “evolutions” to look forward to. More information will follow in the future.
