The scout rifle MIDA Multi-Tool was a popular and powerful PvP weapon in year 1. However, many updates and balance patches have been released by Bungie over the months and years. How does the former “darling weapon” hold up now?
How to obtain MIDA Multi-Tool in year 3
There are several ways to obtain the “MIDA Multi-Tool”:
- Wrath of the Machine
- Kingsfall Raid
- Nightfall Strike
- Trials of Osiris
- Xur: The Agent of the Nine occasionally has the exotic as well, as he does this week.

What makes the MIDA Multi-Tool special in Destiny
MIDA Multi-Tool belongs to the popular archetype with a low impact of 38, but a high rate of fire of 42. The base stats are excellent: the reload speed is at maximum with 100, and the aim assist is also high at 90. The stability is above average, as is the magazine size. The range is below average. Compared to the “year 1” version, the impact has actually been increased by one point:
In addition to the strong base stats, the weapon also comes with interesting perks that provide advantages, especially in PvP:
- MIDA Multi-Tool: You get a speed boost and fire with very little trigger pressure.
- Third Eye: When using the scope of this weapon, the radar remains active.

- Field Scout: Increased ammunition capacity
- Lightweight: While held, this weapon gives you +2 character agility
- Quickdraw: The weapon can be drawn incredibly fast
With Combat Ballistics, Soft Ballistics, and Hip Fire, you can influence recoil, range, and impact.
Is the weapon worth it in PvP?
MIDA Multi-Tool is still the favorite weapon of many Guardians in year 3. Despite the numerous legendary scout rifle alternatives, it remains one of the best primary weapons overall.
In PvP, it is frequently used: You get agility boosts and always have the situation in view, as your radar remains active. Advantages that are highly regarded in the Crucible. At almost all distances, you can damage enemies with precision shots.
In short: If you don’t have the weapon yet, you can confidently acquire it from Xur this weekend. The Strange Coins are well invested.
