In the MMO shooter Destiny, we take a closer look at the weapon perk Ranch Finder. Which weapons benefit from it especially?
A perk that should not be missing from many “God Rolls”: the Ranch Finder. Especially for hand cannons, it seems to be an indispensable extra that is said to work wonders in PvP. But what exactly does Ranch Finder actually do?
The German description is not particularly clear: “Aiming with this weapon increases the effective range.” What does that mean? The English perk description is more precise: “Aiming with this weapon increases the effective range.”
Your hits lose damage the further the target is away. The range at which the weapon still deals maximum damage is the effective range. So Ranch Finder means that you can deal high damage even at greater distances.
Consequently, especially those weapons benefit from it that come with a low base range – like hand cannons. Thanks to Ranch Finder, they can also keep up with weapon types designed for greater distances.
How effective is Ranch Finder?
The YouTuber Venero TV has now taken a closer look at the perk and conducted several tests with it. He examined Ranch Finder on pistols, hand cannons, pulse rifles, shotguns, and fusion rifles:
His conclusion:
- On hand cannons, shotguns, and fusion rifles, Ranch Finder is excellent.
- On pistols, Ranch Finder is hardly worth it.
- On pulse rifles, Ranch Finder is not bad at all, but stability is more important than range here.
How he came to these results can be seen in the embedded video.
